Getting Started with Hydraulics (GSH) - NEW FOR 2018!

The US is undergoing the biggest turnover of its workforce in its history. Many of the newer American industrial maintenance workers are stepping into their positions with limited formal training or experience with manufacturing technology - electrical, mechanical and hydraulic fluid power. Industrial Hydraulic Principles (IHP) - REDESIGNED FOR 2018!

In this comprehensive five-day, 2nd level (second step) industrial hydraulics training course, students are instructed on how to maintain and troubleshoot fluid power equipment. Maintenance personnel continue their development of the principles of industrial hydraulics technology including additional concepts for fluid pressure, flow and power. Continuing with the application of force, area, pressure, fluid flow rate, actuator speed, hydraulic power and hydraulic system heat production, students develop their understanding of how hydraulic powered and controlled machines can work efficiently and with good control. They will be introduced to fundamental hydraulic control automation. This control automation uses programmable logic controllers (PLCs) that are the "front end" of the hydraulic axis operation. IHP introduces the operation and application of electro-proportional hydraulic pressure and directional control valves with signals generated from a PLC. Students develop understanding of 12 hydraulic circuits most often used in hydraulic systems and they develop their ability to read hydraulic schematics. This training course is approximately 50% classroom and 50% hands-on hydraulic lab work including a brief programming example demonstration using PLC equipment. Hands-On-Hydraulics (HOH)

This 5 day training is a unique way to advance your skills beyond industrial hydraulic principles. The goal of this 3rd level (third step) hydraulic maintenance course is to develop maintenance personnel with advanced hydraulic skills. Students achieve this advanced capability with training that is centered in the lab. During the week, students will be presented with a variety of hydraulic valves and they will evaluate several hydraulic circuits. Students will determine if the valve is functioning properly and if the circuit in which the valve is used is adjusted properly. They will be guided through this process of discovery of valve function and circuit operation. Lab exercises are challenging. The same process of discovery and understanding is applied to pumps and variable displacement pump controls, accumulators and electro-proportional hydraulic valves. Students will learn all of the (often used) variable displacement pump controls and their proper adjustment. Students will increase their hydraulic schematic reading skills. Much of this fast-paced course is lab oriented - hands on. There is, however, classroom time. This training course begins where the Industrial Hydraulic Principles (IHP) course ends. IFPS Hydraulic Specialist Certification

This course is a 2.5 day certification review followed by a half day, 3 hour certification test. Certification testing by the IFPS requires enrolling and receiving the test study material 6 weeks or more before the date of the test. To be successful, attendees must study the student workbook and all referenced study materials prior to the review seminar. AMT will guide you in the process of joining the Fluid Power Society, registering for the test and attending the review and testing class.

This course is 3.5 days of review and testing followed by a half day job performance test. Troubleshooting Hydraulic Systems (THS) - NEW FOR 2018!

This 4 day class helps students develop effective hydraulic system troubleshooting skills. This training course is 100% based on 25 years of actual hydraulic system problems that AMT has witnessed and/or been involved with their resolution. The classroom time emphasizes student's response to the instructor's situational questions. Students are encouraged, by their participation, to drive the classroom time from problem to solution. During the latter part of this course students will observe graphical motion data to evaluate the overall operation of a real hydraulic system. Hydraulic Schematic Reading & Interpretation (HSRI) - NEW FOR 2018!

Fluid Power Schematics are our roadmap for understanding how pressurized flow gets through all of the control valves from the pump to the hydraulic cylinder or the hydraulic motor. Schematics, if interpreted properly, 'tell' us a logical 'story' that, if we understand it, makes troubleshooting easier, faster and more logical. SRI is presented emphasizing the story (what the circuit does), the technology (valve and circuit function) and the efficiency of the system (how well the circuit uses fluid power). Electronic Controls for Hydraulics (ECH) - UPGRADED FOR 2018!

This seminar has been developed for advanced maintenance personnel and engineering personnel who have a need for application and maintenance of high performance closed hydraulic process loops. The class develops student understanding of the dynamics and unique requirements of non-linear hydraulic PID control. An important part of this training course is the proper selection and sizing of proportional directional control valves. USING PROPORTIONAL VALVES (UPV) - DEVELOPED FOR INDUSTRIAL MECHANICS, ELECTRICIANS AND CONTROL TECHNICIANS!

All industrial maintenance personnel and technical staff have a need for information related to electroproportional hydraulic valves and their circuit application. The use of proportional valves is virtually universal. Students will receive a thorough fundamental understanding of proportional valve types, how and why they are used and how they are controlled. The control signal stream for proportional valves from PLC to the valve control of the actuator will also be thoroughly explained. Because proportional valve technology is the combined use of electronics and hydraulics, it is important for all maintenance trades to develop their knowledge. This training course covers relief valves, pressure reducing valves, direct operated directional control valves with and without spool position feedback, pilot operated directional control valves with and without spool position feedback, flow controls and high dynamic response directional control valves that are often referred to as "servo solenoid valves". Valve control with "on-board electronics" and separately installed drive electronics will also be covered. It is important for the student to understand the difference between valve driver electronics and process controller electronics. This course also explains how electro-proportional valves are used 11 to control various variable displacement pump operation.
