Food processing and packaging equipment must be relied upon for continuous operation
to optimize productivity and withstand the frequent wash-downs with high-pressure/high-temperature water and harsh
detergents to meet stringent hygiene regulations. Operator safety and energy efficiency are additional requirements that must be
addressed to minimize risk and control operational costs. Airline has a vast array of components and system solutions designed to
meet these challenges. We provide components, systems and safeguarding solutions for a wide range of food
processing and packaging equipment including conveyors, fillers, sealers, rinsers, closers, palletizers, case packaging equipment
and more. We carry many stainless steel and IP69K-compliant products; including cylinders, valves, fittings, motors,
sensors, controls and pilot devices that stand up to the toughest high-pressure wash-downs. Our goal is to help you to be more
productive, safe and responsive to the demands of this ever-changing market.
Designed for use in environments with water spray, the CG5/CJ5 series are an all stainless
steel exterior actuator. The features offered by this series directly address requirements
specific to food processing machines. For example, included in the design is a rubber rod
wiper to keep potential contaminants from penetrating inside the cylinder. The rod wiper and
seals are available in either NBR or FKM materials. These enhancements increase the life of
the cylinder by up to 5x. Further, the smooth exterior surface reduces the potential number
of particle entrapment areas.
The Rexroth Clean Line Series was specifically designed to handle your high-pressure wash-down
applications. The fiber-reinforced sub-bases withstand detergents and aggressive chemicals.
There is space between the valve protection covers making it easy to clean-and at the same
time there are no pockets where particles can collect. Since each valve can be individually
supplied with two different pressures, one valve manifold can handle up to 32 different
pressures. That means you can optimize your application, increasing cycle time and saving
on energy costs.

The VarioFlow S chain conveyor system is specially designed to meet strict hygiene regulations
as, apart from the aluminum version, there is also a variant in stainless steel. With its
variety of sizes, it also offers the best basis for transporting different packaging sizes.
With anodized aluminum profiles and corrosion-resistant accessories from the aluminum
structural framing product range, you can design custom machine frames, machine guards,
lean manufacturing work tables, carts and more. With dozens of bolt-together connectors
available for virtually any load or application, almost any structure can be quickly
assembled without special tools or skills.
Stainless steel sensors offer exceptional durability to reduce your maintenance costs.
One-piece stainless steel housing with a head wall thickness of 0.8 mm (approx. 4x thicker
than previous models) stands up to wash-down with harsh chemicals. Rated IP67 for washdown.
Mounts flush in conveyor rails.
Schmersal offers a range of products that meet IP69K sealing requirements… tolerating high
temperature (up to 175°F) steam or water washdowns at pressures up to 1450 psi. They are
easy to clean - specifically designed to prevent the accumulation of process substances,
dirt and/or bacteria. In addition to these N-Series control devices and indicators,
Schmersal offers IP69K-rated K-Series joystick controls, type 4 light curtains, pulse-echo
based safety sensors, and stainless steel coded-magnetic safety sensors.
For food processing and other environments requiring extreme cleanliness and frequent
washdowns, WEG offers an all-stainless steel motor, called the SHARK™. It's well-known
that nothing stands up to a wet or corrosive environment as well as stainless steel. That's
why it's considered the most desirable material for washdown duty motor frames and other
exterior motor surfaces. And the entire line is certified Inverter Rated for use with a VFD.
This rating meets or exceeds MG1 Part 31 NEMA Specifications. The Shark series of Stainless
Steel products also includes our new Stainless Steel CFW-09 Drive Control.
Rittal's new Hygienic Design (HD) enclosures provide the ultimate solution where cleanliness
and sanitation are paramount. Crafted of stainless steel, they feature a smooth surface
grain, internal hinges, washable gaskets, locks and no crevices to trap debris or
contanminants. The new HD enclosures are available with screw covers for smaller, integrated
applications or hinged doors for larger installations. Both are created from ANSI 304
stainless steel with a 400 grain brushed surface. Wall and door surfaces are angled to
prevent objects from adhering to them so water runs off easily.
Energy-efficient “Blue e” wall-mounted cooling units in power categories 500 W to 2,500 W
with e-Comfort controller integrated as standard, RiNano coating on the condenser and
electrical condensate evaporation. Protection category NEMA 4X.
These sturdy, uncomplicated starters are economical, but built to last, and offer big
performance in a small footprint. Components are all housed in a dust tight, rain tight,
oil tight, water tight and corrosion resistant polycarbonate insulated enclosure.
Pick & Place Automation Cell for Placement of Yogurt Six‐Packs into Cartons
Airline provided the design and assembly services to build a pick and place automation cell used
to package filled yogurt six‐packs into a cardboard display case at a rate of 80 six‐packs per
minute. Each display case held three six‐packs and the equipment was capable of simultaneously
inserting two groups of three six‐packs into the display cases. Incorporated into the equipment
were Bosch Rexroth components, including VarioFlow “S” Series conveyors, X-axis and Z-axis
Series CKK ball screw linear actuators, two-axis IndraDrive servo motors and modular aluminum
